ARE FREE FOR MEMBERS
THE WWFRF NEWSLETTER,
listing upcoming events and research results, is mailed to
members three times a year (Feb, May, Sept).
FIELD DAYS:
(free to members, open to non-members @ $15 per person)
The spring
field day, usually held at the end of February, consists of:
- hands-on pruning,
scionwood grafting
- talks on insects and
pests
- scionwood sale
- root stock sale
The fall
field day, usually held in October, covers various topics:
- best fruit varieties
for our area
- harvest techniques
- preservation and storage
- orchard mason bees
- fertilizer and nutrition
- home wine and cider
production
- fruit tasting
SAMPLE THE HARVEST DAYS:
(open to members only)
- sample fruit in season
(cherries, apples, pears, plums)
July, September, October
Display Garden:
(under construction by volunteers)
- this garden will showcase
all fruit (trees/plants) that are recommended for planting in
Western Washington.
